Proper Prior Preparation occupies John Moore, senior photojournalist for Getty Images,
as he adjust images after Michel du Cille, Washington Post photo editor and three-time
Pulitzer winner, shares thoughts with an attendee at the Bellingham Visual Journalism
Conference in July 2009 at Western Washington University.

The poppy fields of Afghanistan, the politics of the Taliban, and the assassination of Benazir Butto of Pakistan were highlights of John Moore's presentation at the annual BVJC hosted at Western Washington University this July 2009. Moore's classic images of farmers, soldiers, and families caught up in one of the biggest conflicts of the 21st Century brought meaning to the headlines that sporadically touch on war. He writes about his life in Asia and the Middle East at the Getty Blog: http://blog.gettyimages.com/author/john-moore/
Moore has spent years in Central America, Cairo, Asia and has now returned to America with his wife and family. His wife, Gretchen Peters, works for ABC News and is an author of the 2009 book "Seeds of Terror, How Heroin is Bankrolling the Taliban and Al Quaeda" filled with stories from Afghanistan where the poppy trade, American soldiers, DynaCorp, mercenaries and violent clashes are escalating as the balance of military shifts focus.

Evening critique sessions allow Peninsula College students like Andrew Biasotti, of Sequim, to get direct feedback from Getty's John Moore about the quality and direction of his portrait work.Biasotti owns a photography business with a list of clients that include weddings, models and a growing body of photojournalistic topics.
