Certain intelligence is too sensitive for the public. Former Vice-President Dick Cheney's residence on Google Earth, Israeli government offices & military installations and yes, the location of The Buccaneer newsroom are all classified. The pulsating cortex of worker retraining and intellectual research, Peninsula College and its leaders are discrete in redacting mention of the newsroom's whereabouts. It scrubs any and all geographic markers and accomplishments off public maps, aerial imaging and most government documentation. It is better to act with discretion than chance a breach of security and publicity that might cause notice in the city, the county or outside the Olympic Peninsula. Here, tentative writers, photographers, designers and citizens seek the chance to test their skills at hands-on projects and eventually job opportunities.
Should any of these people learn where an award-winning, driven, team of student journalists create provocative stories and photos that are picked up by professional press and generate public discussion, life's routine might change. Outsiders from the South, Canadians from the Great North, and elites from the East might ...cross our borders.
They may come to our small, safe little town and want to take it all from us. They may come into our offices, stride into our labs, dig into our libraries and steal something so precious, life will n-e-v-e-r be the same.
Those outsiders will come. They will step inside our walls. And they will take our ideas.
