A PC grad just reached a pinnacle of success for photography: Publication in National Geographic magazine.

Kevin German, a former photojournalism student and Peninsula Daily News intern and current Sacramento Bee photographer, captured surfer Matt Ambrose outrunning a 30-foot wave at the 2006 “Mavericks” contest off the coast of Half Moon Bay in California. in the January Nat’l Geo with the cover story “Indonesia’s Ring of Fire, Volcano Gods.”
